I have a set of HP Mini 110 laptops running Win7 Pro in a Win 2008 R2 server environment. I keep getting reports from a Y2 classroom that the mousepad is not working. I have found that it is just disabled in that user profile there is no impact on users logged in on a different profile. The reason it is causing a problem is that all of the pupils in a year group use the same log on (I know, bad practice, but an argument I have yet to win), so when the next child comes along, they get stuck.
The setting persists through re-boot and the clients in our network store a local copy of the user profile. The only way I have found to re-enable the mouse pad is to delete the user profile on the client. It then picks up the profile from the server and everything is back to normal.
The fact that it is only happening in one classroom makes me think that it's a keyboard shortcut or similar. Does anyone have any idea how to reset this? Or as a last resort a GP to stop the change being made?
I feel like I'm being outwitted by a group of 6 year olds. Please help....
Edit: should have mentioned that in student profile, control panel and right click are disabled.
