Unable to print with restricted permissions
I have a number of Brother HL-4040 printers shared from 2 of our print servers. We have recently been unable to print when logged in as a student account, yet when a teacher logs in it prints absolutely fine.
Our papercut print monitor shows the jobs as printed, and it appears in the spooler window, yet at the printer the student jobs causes the data light to flicker dimly once, then nothing
Share security and permissions allow any user to print.
Can anyone shed any light on what's causing this?

A bit more digging into the issue suggests it is GPO related, but still struggling to identify exactly what

3rd July 2012, 08:45 PM #5 Have you run the command rsop.msc to look at exactly what policy is running the workstation? An alternative is gpresult /v although look at the switch to output it to a text doc as it puts out a lot of info. I find rsop a lot quicker and easier myself but gpresult does give a little more detail.
Maybe there is a restriction within the student GP that you've missed? You can also run rsop from the server if you don't have the run command under the student login. You do this by right clicking on a student account in Active directory and go to 'resultant set of policies planning'
Hope that helps

Thanks for all your suggestions. I eventually tracked it down to a script in Papercut designed to watermark student prints. Once I turned that off, everything worked fine.
