Have a look here. This is how I do it
Don't know if this has been covered, not really sure what to search for!
I have folder redirection setup for Documents, this is to the users home path. I've tried it both with %homepath%%homeshare% (this is the original setting before I started) and also "Redirect to the users home directory". Now both work fine, saving to Documents and opening from documents is fine no delay, however if I click Documents on the start menu there is about a 15 second delay before explorer opens. Watched task manager there is no spike in usage.
Thought maybe its a problem with windows explorer but as I am waiting for Documents to open I can open Computer, go to the user drive, open a document from it before Documents finally decides to show its face!
So any ideas?!
Cheers Michael, it may be my tired eyes but I can't see anything relating to my Q on that thread...
All the folder redirection works fine, it all shows up, everyone can write/read that should be able to and the user area shows in Computer.
However when clicking the 'Documents' link on the start menu there's a delay before Windows Explorer shows literally nothing happens for 15 seconds, no mouse cursor activity nothing in task manager there's just a weird delay.
If I for example open Word click save go to Documents it opens instantly and I can save to the user area, or if I go to Computer I can open the user area mapped drive instantly.
I just thought I'd show you how I map/redirect as it's pretty much instant the way I configure things. You might be redirecting differently as there are different methods
Oh cheers Michael,
Yeah tried every which way! FQDN, UNC to server, as well as the previously mentioned %homepath%%homeshare%
Each way it works fine in every program, just the serious delay when I click the link for Documents on the Start Menu.
