Anyone using Serif PhotoPlus X5 yet in a school Network environment (vanilla setup).
We are loking at this software now as a replacement to PhotoPlus X2 which is really not reliable on our Windows 7 machines. We use local profiles at the moment for staff and students but would like to move to mandatory for the students but Serif is holding us back as even less reliable when configured like this. Users Application Data is redirected to the users home area on the server.
We have age range of students between 9 to 13 who will be the users of the software.
Our alternatives are Corel suite if there is any comparison, Pros or Cons please comment.
Thanks in anticipation of reply.

Have you asked Serif for an evaluation copy? They're usualy happy to send out a single copy.
EDIT: It's probably not user friendly enough, but Gimp might be worth a try.

DP X4, We can get hold of one I'm sure. We thought about GIMP but also looking at PhotoShop Elements and Corel. The students have access to drawing tablets so we mainly use Art Rage 2 at the moment till we get a replacement for Serif. Whatever happens it needs to be school network friendly and good support which almost rules out Adobe to start with (from personal experience anyway).
