    Printer Issues

    Hey,

We are currently having trouble with a few of our printers.

We have a 5550 which spews out error messages when printing a job with multiple copies.
Error: Unable to store job at printer
Reason: Printer does not support collation at printer.
Solution: turn off Mopier enabled in your printer driver.

Now having looked, this is already disabled. HP haven't updated their drivers for this printer (We need to use the original - non universal - PCL 5 driver due to us having issues from printing within SIMS; if there's a fix for it please let me know) since 2008.

We are also having problems with these printers and 4700s with PCounter, once again a driver problem - it is charging them an insane amount when doing multiple copies.

Has anyone else had any problems like this or anything relevant - I would be so grateful!

    Thanks,

    Jordan

Bump, this is still on going for us and is wasting quite a lot of paper, was hoping that someone else has this problem and has managed to solve this?

    Does it work without pcounter?

I would also check the settings on the printer itself. Make sure its got snmp enabled, and any multiple copies settings are correct.

Try resetting the printer to factory default, then try without PCounter, then try with PCounter.

I've found that having "Enable advanced printing features" checked (the checkbox is on the Advanced tab of the printer properties dialogue) seems to cause a lot of problems with multiple copies of print jobs on the older HPs. Have you tried it with this turned off?

I can't speak on anything concerning PCounter, but we're utilizing the Microsoft provided PCL5 drivers in every printer that HP doesn't have a dedicated PCL6 driver written for. We've had nothing but problems with the universal driver. Using the PCL5 driver though I've noticed that the installable options don't get detected properly and if not configured correctly caused some goofy problems with the printers. Mopier mode, along with hardware accessories that don't exist are all enabled by default. I had to set it all by hand on the printers that use the PCL5 driver.

Reset to defaults. Try it a few times as sometimes HPs don't always reset first go.
