    Post Active Teach sound distorted

    Hello

i am having a bit of trouble with active teach. After our summer upgrade to RM CC4 windows 7 32 bit.
we now have distorted sound on the program, however if you find the root of the sound file it will play perfectly, ion both quick time and vlc. I have reinstalled the sound driver ect.
Has anyone else faced the same problem

Would it be a language ActiveTeach by any chance? We were told it was an issue with W7 and Flash and they were hoping Adobe would modify flash to fix the problem.....

    @aki:

We have been experiencing a minor disturbance in the English department as they use ActivTeach software as part of their GCSE program delivery to the students. I did re-install flash as this can become corrupted. Will keep an eye on it.

No known fix for it as of yet when we last spoke to them, they still believe that Adobe will fix Flash around them?! We have it with French and Spanish both of which are a PITA and it can work fine for weeks but then goes terribly wrong.

The solution is don't open the program before you are ready to use it and if you have been in it a long time and it just starts to go wrong then close and re-open the program and its fine.

We had stuttering sound on ActiveTeach (science I think) but installing the proper sound drivers (i.e not Windows default ones) seems to have fixed the issue.

Ah, brilliant - been trying everything to get this problem sorted. Recently started at a school and the Languages staff kept saying "it worked last year" when they were on Windows XP, so started thinking it was a Windows 7 problem or something. Have tried everything, including running it on the local machine (it ran from a shared folder before) - will try what you've suggested John and hopefully that will get us by for now. Will also check the sound drivers that are installed, thanks AChandler.

Same issue here. I installed the latest audio drivers but the problem remains. Language teachers less than happy!

    Have just resolved this.

Go into sound properties and disable the sound enhancements on the speakers.

Not had the sound issues since!

It all worked fine on XP - had problems when we moved to Windows 7.

Problem was with teh Windows 7 Sound enhancements!

Forgot to say that you need to have speakers pluged in etc so that you can disable the enhancements.

Hmm, Jaymate I was filled with hope when I read your post saying you had resolved it. That was of course until I went to do the same thing and discovered we have no 'enhancements' tab. Back to square one for us then. Anyone any other ideas?

    Hi, Chris,

Are you sure you have the speakers or headphones plugged in & powered on and the PC is recognising them? - on ours sometimetimes it recognises the speakers as headphones and vise-versa. It should show a green tick next to whichever one! If I look at the one where it is not recognised it wont show me the enhancement tab - if I look at the one with the green tick it does. Also, if I RDP to a pc it doesn't show me the tab. Can do it when sat in front PC logged on as admin or VNC to pc and log on as admin.

    Hope this makes sense.

Must admit that is why I asked the question of XP or 7 as I cannot find that on my PC here at home (not had time to look at work yet but will try to tomorrow), are you using on-board sound or an add-on board as I wonder if its a board depending thing?

    W7 issues...

I'm running the Active Teach software on Windows 7 machines. I've been in touch with Pearson support and I've:

    1) Installed the latest (correct!) audio drivers
    2) Disabled 'Enable Audio Enhancements' option
    3) Uninstalled Flash activeX and reinstalled

I've still got random audio issues. I don't have audio issues with any other software apart from this language kit. I'm now going to have to swap the PC's in the language rooms for old XP boxes - nice!

The MFL teacher wasn't best please when I told her 'XP wont last forever' !!!

Anyone had any joy resolving this?
