Tweaking the brightness
Is there any way of lowering the screen brightness of my laptop's screen to a brightness level that is lower than the current lowest setting available?

I can hardly see the screen if I turn the brightness down to the lowest. Why would you want to do that?
If it solves the problem, could you plug the laptop into an external monitor and control the brightness via that?

Buy and fit a broken inverter?

Go to Jessops, ask for two ND2 filters and then convert them into some rudimentary glasses.
