    It doesn't work for me, would there need to be changes to work on Server 2008 R2 please?

    Just tried it myself in a 2008 R2 VM, and it looks like it's failing because "TrustedInstaller" is the only user who can delete the first registry key in that .reg file...

    Code:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}

    What do you think to resolve it? Maybe change the permissions on

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}

    The same worked for us but....

    Doing this will show all shortcuts (both local and redirected) on the start menu and desktop - for the time being this is something we are going to live with but hopefully this will eventually get sorted.

    I would try what ful56_uk suggested first, but if that doesn't work you can reset the permissions (using SetACL) and delete the registry keys using the batch file below.

    Code:
    ECHO OFF
    cd /d "%~dp0"

    SetACL -on "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}" -ot reg -actn setowner -ownr "n:S-1-5-32-544;s:y"
    SetACL -on "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}" -ot reg -actn ace -ace "n:S-1-5-32-544;p:full;s:y"

    REG DELETE HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5} /F
    REG DELETE HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5} /F
    REG DELETE HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{2112AB0A-C86A-4FFE-A368-0DE96E47012E} /F

    We have a GP that removes everything from the start menu , then a login script that redirects it according to the value of a reg key for that room.
