Isn't there a setting in GP that makes a computer wait for a network connection before displaying the logon screen, something like 'always wait for connection'? Just wondering if there's a delay and the Computer displays the CAD screen and allows logon before kicking in the Client Side Extensions for the GPO.

Also, is there anything set in the User Attributes RE there home folder? I remember we had issues with something similiar and had to apply the location through the User Attributes in AD and then cancel them out just so that the folder and permissions were set up as necessary.

@tarquel I have tried setting up the user and computer in there own seperate OU to rule out an inheritance issues.

@killer_bot I found that setting and the verbose setting now i'm getting everything i expect, apart from the home directories

Permissions on home directories are as follows:
    SYSTEM: Full Control
    Administrators: Full Control
CREATOR OWNER: Special (Can't seem to change that)
    Test User: Full Control
    Teachers (Group): Read

Anything in the event viewer regarding the issue? usually can tell alot from there. If the storage server is a windows box or has some sort of logging system, worth checking that too, to see if it mentions what was attempted when the user logs on
