New laptop, fresh install of Windows 7. Activated OK. Not on school domain yet, testing at home.
Updates downloaded and and ready to install - machine needs to restart, click OK - message installing updates do not turn off your computer. So I left it doing that and got on with something else. Just come back to laptop - screen has frozen, little swirly thing not swirling, message displayed same as before. Only thing that works is leaning on the power button to shutdown.
On powering up I get the unexpected shut down choice of start up screen - I chose start normal. Then I got updating your computer, 6 digit number of files rapidly gone through. Laptop seems fine - but this is not the first time it's happened.
I've looked at Technet where there are any number of freezing Win7 machines but none that match my issue - also not very many seem to have been resolved Anybody any clues as to what might be going on here, please?
