    GRR Windows 7!!!

Right..........yesterday at home i saw windows 7 downloading and installing some updates, then waiting for me to restart pc, left pc on over night, wake up this morning to find pc had tried to restart during the night, only to find pc hanging on starting windows, leave for an hour, still "starting windows" so i restart pc again, only now it doesnt even get to starting windows, just a black screen.

Tried booting from windows 7 disc, only to find it wont boot from the disc either, if i could i could simply restore last nights backup before the updates were installed, thats if it isnt something else causing these problems.

Any ideas where i can start when i get back home..........................

no idea, however before I do any updates, I always refresh the image of my machine on my external HDD. That way if it cocks up badly and I have to reinstall windows, I have the full image to restore and don't have to muck around with installing anything else.

Perhaps something to do in the future?

in the BIOS set the machine to boot from disc and try a linux disc (if you have one). If it boots the W7 disc is at fault.
