or if the desktop goes with their profiles does it not get huge with the amount of stuff they save?
Here i have start menus, desktop, my documents and application data all redirected in some form (app data forced to stay on C:, my docs redirected to home folders and desktop and start menu redirected to read only shares where we add in shortcuts the students and non roaming teachers can see) with students and non roaming teachers on mandatory profiles
Our student profiles total 4mb inc start menu and desktop stuff, everything else is then stored on the network in shares like their home folders and public shares like teaching resources.
I guess it entirely depends on how your students use the PCs though, i've not attempted moving anything to windows 7 even as a test yet due to what i've read about the start menu redirection problems but im sure i will when that's resolved
