27th August 2009, 03:40 PM #17 I was getting sick of error codes (no matter which key I tried to activate) so I have upgraded the server to 2008 R2 and it accepts the key now. Couldn't be bothered waiting for MS to fix it.

28th August 2009, 12:10 PM #18 Done the same now.. R2 on and the key activated.
HOWEVER: it appears that they have changed the minimum clients again..
No longer is meeting the 5 Server threshold sufficient for activating clients as it was in Vista
in Win7/R2 - both must be reached - Clients wont activate until 25 clients talk to your KMS Server... Even if the 5 Server threshold has already been reached
Sorry if that doesn't make much sense!

Seems to be ok for us. Obviously as soon as it was supplied with the new key it's status was effectively reset, but I checked it a few days later and it seems fine and dandy. We did have a number of new virtual (and a couple of physical) 2K8 R2 servers that were yet to be activated though.
Current count is showing as 12 when I bring up the licence information. All of the servers that had countdowns for activation are now showing as activated and genuine.
