I had a look through the new features and couldn't think how any of them would be applicable to most places!
It's based on the Windows 7 codebase and not the Vista codebase like 2008 is, so it benefits from all the improvements that 7 has over Vista,eg lighter install, power management, less resources required which is a real benefit considering we have everything running on a VM cluster with limited space on a fast SAN
It will have all the 7 GPO's in by default and AD improvements like the AD recycle bin.
I just don't see the point in deploying a 2008 based system at this stage.
People are rolling out Win7 straight away?!
For us for now, it's just going to be on our own IT admin systems, we've all been running it full time since beta and it's lovely. I'd love to roll it out everywhere, but as we're still presently on XP it will require a lot of user retraining and testing first. Also it's not yet officially supported by Capita to for running SIMS, so we're stuck until they and various other pieces of software do.

We are moving to Vista this year, 7 just had a release date to far into the holidays and our AV and SIMS are not yet compatible.
At least it's only a little step from Vista to 7 for end users next year.

Just ignore them and tell support you are on Vista instead. If it is anything like our SMS then the issues are almost never OS related. We only got official Vista support 7 months ago, I'm not waiting until 2012 just to upgrade to the next version because of the bunch of slackers that run MUSAC.

If we weren't rolling out SIMS at classroom level in September I wouldn't hesitate.
