Seems a little odd you can't get the MAK keys.
Yeah just seen that - bugger
Will see if there is anything on TechNet...

I dont have these on our MVLS yet..nothing.. nada
Wonder if it's because our SA is up in 2 days time and the paperwork still hasn't been sent off yet![]()
Woo got an email from Microsoft with our MVLS keys for everything on our schools agreement order and it included the 2008 R2 and Windows 7 KMS keys
Looking forward to the ISO being released now!
n00b question:
In order to install Win 7 with a KMS key, I HAVE to setup a KMS Server?
2nd n00b question:
How to Install KMS Server to Activate Windows Vista Business or Enterprise My Digital Life
Is this the correct method to setup a KMS server and would you recommend I setup my DC as a KMS?
Hmm, is the release date for 2k8R2 the same as for 7?
Yes. (KMS key, KMS server..)
Take official advice from Technet. It's probably an acceptable way of doing it, but this is MDL we're talking about2nd n00b question:

Whats the deal with existing KMS? Ie, the ones dishing out vista/2008 activations?
For Win7/R2 I would image that the KMS Server can handle the new keys
as for Vista & 2003/2008 there will be an update to allow it to handle the new keys..
Also I believe that the new KMS keys take Virtual Machines into account when looking for the Minimum Client count...
Yay! We have the key also.
Just wait for Thursday now!
When do you think the ISO's will be available on the licensing site?
Just checked - not there yet :-(
a few more n00b questions (sorry in advance)...
1) Are the Win7 keys shown on licensing.microsoft.com for Enterprise or Pro?
2) When you register a KMS key on a KMS Server, do you need to use that key when installing the client, or do you not use any key when installing the client and it automatically finds your KMS server and gets its own key?
3) Do clients have be on a domain for it to pickup your domain KMS Server?
1) Both Enterprise and Professional but if you are installing it use Enterprise as it is much better (thanks to powdarrmonkey for clarification)
2) No the KMS key is just for the KMS server, 7 enterprise automaticly talks to the KMS to activate itself, no key needed
3) KMS is advertised through internal DNS and no you don't need to be a member of the domain, just running enterprise or pointing slmgr to the right address with a different version. MS has documts stating that you should secure your KMS (ie from the net) so that others can't activate off it.
