That's the general release date to the public, system builders will get the it early so that units are ready for sale on that day (RTM = Release to manufacture). It should also be available to software assurance customers early as well.

burgemaster - 7600

I cant find the 7600 build anywhere on technet or MSDNAA... am I missing something?
The RTM release won't be up on Technet or MSDNAA for a little while yet. If we're lucky we'll get it at the end of the week, but from what I've heard it may not be up until the end of July.
They're 8 hours behind in Redmond so today for them is almost tomorrow for usI cant find the 7600 build anywhere on technet or MSDNAA... am I missing something?
but as stated above it might be a few days yet.

RTM means release to manufacturer. They do this early so that people like Nvidia and ATi can finish their drivers for the software.
Also it allows companies like Dell to get Windows 7 working on their computers so that they can start selling PCs with Windows 7 on the release date
The RTM has "appeared", The final build string appears to be 7. 7.7600.16384.090710-1945
Where has it appeared? Can't see it on the volume licensing site

DrCheese where has it appeared?

not an official appearance then? ;-)
Having done some more digging around, it's not yet clear that the version that has "appeared" is the final, final version.
It looks like that the RTM will definatly be a version of 7600, but it doesn't yet look like MS have picked a rebuild of that build to be the RTM, i.e the "16384.090710-1945" bit
