Wonder when it will show up on MSDN AA. I'll prob end up with a free copy of 7 Professional.

who in there right mind would pay for an MSDN account? they are freaking expensive! lol
I remember 98 was rubbish but they fixed it and released 98SE which was ok, ME was just utter rubbish they punted out to fill the gap untill XP Home.
I never had any issues with Windows 98. I thought it was a good step-up from Windows 95.
Yeah but it wasn't the improvement as promised by Microsoft as proven by South Park [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ntr-pw_6C0&feature=related"]YouTube - South Park Bill Gates[/nomedia]
98 SE was an improvement over 98 however.
I remember when I was 14 and going down too PC World and buying the upgrade version of Windows Me
Took it back 2 days later for a refund haha
To me win 98 was tha boss. I never had any form of issue with it. Win ME was bull dodo. Xp was ok except from alot of blue screens. Win 7......no complains as yet. Loving it so far.
Following on from this comment, I just went to check with the Education licensing team (only 2 desks away, so not a big trip) and they confirmed that a free MSDN AA subscription is already included if you have a School Agreement (or Campus Agreement if there's anybody on here from FE/HE).
So quick - dig out all that paperwork (is it still called paperwork, if it's electronic?)

Really? We have a SA and i didn't know you got a free MSDN AA subscription, how do I go about setting that up then?
Thanks.
I actually wondered if that question would come up, so had already asked the Licensing team that question. And they gave me these words from the agreement.
2.4.11 Complimentary MSDNAA MembershipSo basically it seems you go back to your original Acceptance or Welcome letter which has the info and your enrollment number.
School subscription enrollment: Microsoft provides one complimentary School membership for each subscription enrollment.
Campus subscription enrollment: For each enrollment, Microsoft provides one complimentary membership to any of the following:
1. Developer AA – for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Departments
2. Designer AA – for Visual, Illustration, Design and Art (VIDA) Departments
Institutions will continue to receive the complimentary MSDNAA Membership on renewal
or submission of anniversary orders.
For institution with 1-year licensed term, MSDN membership can be extended when renewing (extending) Campus or School subscription enrollments and can be used as long as the Campus or School agreement is active.
Institution with 3-year licensed term must meet the anniversary order commitment to continue the complementary MSDNAA membership.
More information on MSDN Academic Alliance is available at MSDN Academic Alliance Memberships Comparison
When an enrollment has been processed and activated, the Acceptance letter (Welcome letter) is with details on agreement and enrollment number and briefs on MVLS, VLKs, MSDNAA etc.
Hope that helps

For note, it's gone RTM today.
Am I missing something?
According to the Technet Newsletter, the release date is 22 October. Except that in Europe, it'll be released without IE.
You may have seen in the news a few weeks back that, in order for Europe to get Windows 7 at the same time as the global launch on 22 October, Windows 7 will have to be shipped without Internet Explorer. So, when you buy a new computer, you will not have a browser as part of the operating system.
...
Here in the UK we are working hard to make upgrading to Windows 7 as easy as possible. There are still on-going discussions with the European Commission about what can be done to make this easier, including offering a ballot of browsers to choose from. To get the full details, check out this blog. We may not able to offer some of the upgrade packages that are available in the rest of the world but they are working on plans to make sure customers in Europe have a choice of upgrade pricing. In the meantime, there will be a pre-order offer which I will provide more information about in the next newsletter.
