Microsoft confirms Windows 7 release date to be October 22nd
They expect to wrap up development next month. Hopefully we'll get it before the on shelf release date like we did Vista (It was on MVLS around November, shelf release jan)

Can't Wait!!
I have to say I have been very impressed with 7 even when its in rc phase.

I hope they will release it for VLK for the summer, i doubt it though
But Acer did retract it asap
but it may have been a typo for the 23rd knowing them....

Looking forward to itI think it will be fairly prompt after final build confirmation and the press of the new media goes ahead to the VL site as Vista has been not that well taken up they will hope that we will really go for Windows 7 like mad. I must admit I am keen to try it in a more enterprise environment as I think it will be a good move and must admit I am thinking it will actually run well on a good chunk of our hardware

Cool! i look forward to theni do hope we can get it earlier i think everyone has high hopes for W7 so everything should go ok on release.
Just seen this on MSN too (Windows 7 launch confirmed as October 22 - Latest News - MSN Tech & Gadgets UK)
Looking forwards to this. I just hope the Antivirus companies will have got their products working by release.
Any pre-order links kicking around yet? *Hint hint suppliers*![]()
Hopefully it will be on MVLS before september
If they do the same as with Vista then we should get it August![]()
maybe its me but that seems a lille quick to me, not sure if they would have time to change anything from previous releases, but that is assuming they actually listen and act on feedback. I think its much better than vista, but you still can't do what you could with windows xp as easily.
What things just out of curiosity?but you still can't do what you could with windows xp as easily.
Windows 7 has been near completion for ages so MS have been waiting for RC feedback to see if there are any big problems, as far as I can tell there aren't many so they shouldn't need to change much so It won't take long to sign it off and punt it out. By comparison Vista still had big problems even in RC.

Isn't that the point of the new Virtual XP Mode thingie??
Has anybody tried the RC on a gaming rig yet?
Can't say I've found any issues even with my ATI card, I ran the beta and the RC as my main OS and played plenty of games, mostly ones that were designed back when XP was the business, but they're all still good and happy.
