    Weird.

    Jealousy mode over. :-)

Pretty in-depth article on XP Mode. Sounds pretty cool for us in Education to be honest where a lot of older apps will most likely need this.

going x64 means you can play with the XP Mode toy hopefully - got both downloaded but not installed yet - still on build 7000

    I've gone the 64-bit route.

Have Remote Server Administratoin Tools installed.
Virtual PC and XP Mode downloaded to install in a minute.
Might see if there's any way to get an image of our current XP setup onto it...

    Didn't have previous builds.

Hmmm, installed Virtual PC and Virtual XP and get the error 'Hardware Virtualization Required' or something of that nature.

    It's a HP dx2400 running a Core2Duo 7400.

I read that it might need enabling in the BIOS, but I can't see any options for it...

it is an option in the Bios and it will probly be down as somehting like "enable hardware virtualisation" or CPU Virtualisation or something of that nature - the Bios is the place to look though

just had a look at a fujitsu bios and couldn't find what I was looking for but that might be cause it has a crappy E2200 in it rather than a real Core2Duo

install just finished in half an hour - would have been less if I had typed the product key in correctly

I too was impressed with install speed, started it at 10.40am, went and did some stuff, gave it an 'optimistic' check at 11.02am and it was waiting for a username to finish.

To those who aren't special enough to have 64bit hardware to play on, Sims.net works natively in 32bit Windows 7 RC

I'm happy with it, I did a clean install, co-worker tweaked a file in the setup to disable version-checking and upgraded Win 7 BETA to RC in around an hour (wasn't paying any attention).

So far it hasn't crashed with the display drivers, which was a trait of the beta when I first installed that.

    Roll on Gold Edition...
