JTI - don't try and download using FF - switch to IE .

Just to expand on Si's advice; you need a browser capable of installing the java based Akamai download manager which turned out to fail on everything I tried except on a windows box running IE7.
Curiously, if you have issues downloading the file from MS (through their cryptic download manager) take the filename, google it and you'll find a link via another site to the end user file on the MS Site! - Works nicely for this linux bod here.
(Ofc, you need to jump through the hoops to get the key first!)

For you non Technet people

Thats the public beta link

I've ended up with 3 different keys after pressing refresh too many times -gawd knows which one will work

PS they should just cut out the middleman and post a link to a tracker![]()
Just got the public beta installed on a vm, only to find that bitdefender doesn't seem to like vmware.Back to VPC i spose.
7 seems just as I expected; a lot like vista, more like a Mac. I want it to be less pretty if anything. But still, looks promising.

Downloading now after having a torrent on the go for a few days (so slooooow).
LOL.
Going to install it using Parallels Desktop for Mac.

Downloaded it this morning, no problems so far running it in a VM, still too much like Vista for my liking, see how it goes, things are lot better from what I have seen so far, only time will tell.
I like the boot screen and the windows icon...
the SuperBar is too big for me, reminds of KDE, which I hate.
messing around in Paint was fun and the desktop background slideshow is kinda nifty, could come up with some uses for that in a school.
Is the public Beta showing as build 7000? If it is then I have no need to downlaod then.
Yes it is.

I don't know what Microsoft are playing at?
They said they would only give away 2.5 million keys to Windows 7, so everybody rushes to sign up on Friday and the servers became overloaded. Now it looks like they have only created 5 unique keys for each version?

I signed up and was given one those keys by MS which activated with no problems.
Well I wanted to download it to try in a VM but I cant because as already stated I am using FF under Ubuntu grrrr!!!!!!
I'm going to leave it very much where it is![]()
