    Angry Memory Stick Problem

    Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I'm having with removable media?
Every time I plug in a USB stick, it crashes (restarts) the explorer process, and then in 'My Computer' shows like this:
    Untitled.png

Upon double clicking the drive, I receive the error:

    Location is not available (titlebar)
    E:\ is not accessible.
    Access is Denied.

Upon right clicking and pressing format, I then receive the error:
    Format IT-4GB (E (titlebar)
You do not have sufficient rights to perform this operation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Long shot but physically on the memory stick is there a slider switch to put the memory stick in a read only state or a read and or write state

Just wondering if that is set to the read only mode which is why you are getting those errors ?

It looks like you need to go into disk management and activate the drive... and then try to partition it (format). You wont be able to get the data off it mind :S

Unfortunately this is not the case.

I'll try this - however it does work on any other machine, aside from my own.
It's ALL USB drives on my machine?

Go into device manager and uninstall all the usb hubs etc, then turn restart your machine, might reinitialise the usb ports?

If the above fails - re-install motherboard drivers or look for BIOs updates that may have been missed
