    Pre-defined GPO templates for schools

    Morning Edugeekers,

Currently in the process of moving from a 2003 CC3 network to Server 2012!! Everything is going smoothly, but now we are on to the group policies! As we are moving from xp to Windows 7 I assume most of the policies might be the same, but do Microsoft provide some pre-defined policy templates for schools/education establishments? Would save me a lot of time testing completing this myself.

    Cheers Dan

Sorry to jump in with nothing useful but this would be really handy.

I had searched everywhere a year ago and came up short. I had never written a GP before so had to wing it, we now have a solid set of GP and I have a better understanding of them. I tweaked a few that I found on forums and ran through what our original setup was like in Ranger and worked from there.

When I first moved to vanilla from a software managed solution, we used the MS 'common scenarios' package as a starting point. Download Group Policy Common Scenarios Using GPMC from Official Microsoft Download Center

These give you a few seperate ways of locking machines down, which you can then customize to fit your needs. Still needs a lot of testing and work though.
