Slow Logon - Desktop Window Managerwas unable to start because a composited theme....

I have a class of machines which all logon a user on extremely slow. After looking at the logs I can see that something called the Desktop Windows Manager is failing.

"The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because a composited theme is not in use"
    followed by
"The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0x40010004)"

This takes around 2+ minutes and I'm not sure whats going on as Aero does work when eventually logged on. I assume the Desktop Window Manager is for aero, isn't it?

I have tried trying to set a theme using gpo and tried it without. Still no difference. Googling has not helped so far.

    Please can anyone help.
