    Yenka Crashing - Connection Issue

    Hi,

We are having issues with Yenke at the moment.

If you run the software for the first time, it starts without any problems.

But if you close the software and try and re-open it, it crashes on the splash screen.

We have had a look at the software settings and registry, and it seems the issue is because the software cannot connect to the Yenka online site, which is used by the "Online" tab within the software.

If we run the software on a clean internet connection, it runs without any issue. Our filtering system is blocking the software somehow, but I wondered if anyone on here had come accross this issue before.

It uses port 80, according to the Yenka site, we have this unblocked, but will filter individial sites/ip's.

Yenka have requested a detailed e-mail, but I thought I would ask on here first.

    Thank-You.

From what you've said I would assume it requires an open connection through to their servers. Can you get a list of their URL's or IP addresses to whitelist?

    Thanks for the reply.

I did speak to Yenka and the software only requires Yenka.com. This is completly unblocked.

At a loss as to why it is not working.

Possibly add yenka.com to the IE proxy exceptions? Does this happen even when logged in as a domain admin? Just checking its not some silly file permission

    Hi,

It does happen even when logged in as an domain admin.

Its possible to bypass the issue by depolying a registry file to make the software think its on its first start up, So I may try and do this until a real fix is found.

    Thanks for your help.

No problem, if the registry fix sorts it for now then at least you have some kind of solution. Do you use mandatory roaming profiles? If so you could permanently set the reg key in the NTuser.man file?

Hi, In the end we had to allow these through our filtering system (bypass), we use bloxx.

    About Crocodile Clips
    Yenka.com

    And it started to work.

    Hope this helps.
