RM CC4 end of year tasks / delete profiles

    Hi guys

Just wondering what people do over the summer to maintain / refresh your CC4 networks. I have seen some people rebuild all their desktops onto the network again. And some run a script of sorts to remove local user profiles that build up.

Are there advantages of one way over the other?

For the script to delete local profiles how do people do it? Does anyone have a copy of it?

Any other jobs cc4 admins do to ensure your cc4 network is running well?

    Cheers

That's my long term aim but for now we have to soldier on.

Anyone any advice on the above?

We rebuild all our workstations every summer. It just means we aren't carrying over any issues from the previous year - all local profiles are gone, every package is on it's latest version and it gives us a reason to visit every machine and check everything is in order. We have a large network - 1600 machines over two sites.

Sorry for my not so helpful post. Should have added that it works out less expensive to decommission it and use vanilla than it does paying for the support and the extra time needed to manage a CC4 system. Also pretty sure I read somewhere that 2003 server support was being discontinued at some point (or perhaps its just SIMS?)

To further add I did have a CC3 package to delete local profiles, although I never tried it on CC4 and guess it only worked with XP. Rebuilding can be a hassle if you have any 3rd party machines which CC4 wont store the hardware drivers for, or any locally attached printers and scanners that need reinstalling, or any machines which have single licence software installed, or any laptops which will need a wireless key to be re-entered and laptops which the staff have taken home to use over the holidays, although should be fine for generic large rooms of computers.

All our workstations are 3rd party - I've simply added the drivers to the build. We've created a GPO to add wireless details - add a laptop to either the student laptop or staff laptop type and they get all the wireless details. We call in all staff laptops over the summer, though if staff need them we ask for contact details and get in touch so they can pick them up once rebuilt.
