Print spooler crashing on one user. Antivirus real time protection being disabled.
We have a user who keep having issues with the print spooler crashing on them, no matter what ive tried the only way ive managed to fix it is to reinstall the machine.
restarting print spooler.
uninstallling paper cut.
Checking the service dependencies
Deleting the profile from the server and machine.
This time it also seems to be stopping the antivirus real time file protection to.
Sounds really dodgy but i cant find any viruses yet.

It's probably a pooched printer driver. Deleting the printers directory doesn't remove the driver package itself. If you can't get the spool service to stay up long enough to gracefully remove driver packages using the Print Management snap-in, then delete all the driver out of the appropriate folder.

Almost certain it's the xerox 6125 driver as we've had issues with all three computers connected to them.
Contacted xerox today the driver is dodgy but they arnt interested as its out of warranty. Wouldn't touch another xerox as they have never been great.
Didn't know win 7 have a print manager so will give that a try Monday.

have a look in the event log to see if theres a driver causing the issue. If it helps we see this on hp10**'s and have several 6125's that are fine.

Although these are PCounter ones, I would do similar with PaperCut.
There isn't a PaperCut version of that article but if you get stuck drop me a PM and I will help out, had this happen before on a PaperCut install.

The other thing is just to temporary disable/uninstall your AV and see if it resolves it.

I've had this in a school I look after and haven't managed to get to the bottom of it yet!
I'm regularly called to them as the laptops (2 different brands) lose the printer and when I try to connect it again find the print spooler service is stopped. I restart the service but it stops itself whenever I try to reinstall the printer driver.
I've tried to go into the print management in administrative tools and strip out the drivers, but it tells me it's in use and I can't reinstall the driver to uninstall it 'gracefully' as the Spooler service stops, I've deleted the spooler folder, driver folder, every folder I can think of in the Systyem 32 folder. These are Samsung MFD printers. Eventually I manage to get it all done (with a lot of mucking about*) and leave them printing, but the next week I am called again!
The last time I was there I installed an updated driver to the server and installed a renamed printer on the same i.p. and joined to that. I haven't heard from them since, so I hope it worked.
