Have you turned off UAC, the nice permission asking feature is part of that.

log in as administrator then do the installation, upgrades etc. i have noticed that there is a pop up on non dc connected machines for installing things from Standard user accounts but this does not seem work on domain computers. my advice witch is recommended anyway is to log out and back in as a domain admin do the work and log out and back in as a user.

Your normal account does not have any administrator privileges by the sounds of things. if you are a proper admin then you will need to lift your privileges by adding your username the group Domain Admin in active directory.
