Neither, I code in Rails these days.
I have had a little look at that. Is it difficult to pick up?
I've been coding in PHP for years so it's somewhat hard to break the habit... not least because I've produced mods for phpBB2 and maintain them when I can.
Rails has a good write up though and is where a few web coders I know have gone with their work.
No, it's very easy and there's some excellent tutorials on the net.

This one in paticular I found entertaining and instructive.

ASP.NET personally. with a C# code behind. I liked C/C++ and Java so it was pretty intuitive to pick up.
PHP, cross-platform and faster than ASP. Having said that, I used Classic ASP for our intranet simply for the easy AD integration.
I did a bit of JSP work when i was at uni, but since i have been in education, i have gone down the PHP route..... i just found it very easy to pick up and there is loads of information on the web about it
I am a PHP programmer too. So far it seems this is what seems to be the main language.
I've done both at work and I find that php is easier.
Ok i was hoping to create my own VLE in PHP.
Do you think this would be difficult?
As a rule of thumb, whenever I start figuring out the timing for a project I take a reasonable figure, double it... go away think about it for a couple of hours.. add 12 hours, divide the number of hours by 8 hours to get days and then triple that number to get a rough estimate on time.Quote:

Yes, I think it would be difficult. Install Moodle and add things to that, your not likely to get your own VLE to that standard soon - and if you don't like Moodle - patch it ;)Quote:

Yes, I agree it would also be difficult. Contributing to and working on Moodle would be a better way forward I reckon.
That is some great advice lol
You should do project managment!!!
I would really like to see if it can be done.
Probably have it branded under edugeek.
