Intranet sign in via AD
I'm in the process of creating an intranet for the school, and I was wondering is there a way in which people can log on, but to save them logging on if there is anyway that it can automatically pull there log on details from Active directory and check that against there computer login, and if they are the same then log them on?? does that make sense??
What domain are you running? If you install AD Federation Services which pulls AD credentials for SSO and that's probably your best bet.
Server 2008 R2 admin and curriculum domains.
awesome thanks :)
Do you have any idea how to code that into the website???
If you are using IIS on a server within the domain then you should be able to just use the built in tools.
Do you want the content to be unique to each person logging in - or is it just a question of restricting access and everyone has the same content?
Awesome :) thanks :D
It would really just to restrict access to stop kids etc going onto it, but if we decided to but the kids on it, is there anyway to then give the two different domains different access??
As the staff are all on the admin domain and the kids are all on the curriculum domain
Essentially all you do is turn off anonymous browsing so that visitors have to log in, select AD as the authentication type and then set permissions on the various folders that make up your website.
If you wanted to direct people based on their credentials then it is slightly more difficult, but possible. You could just have two different URLs that each only allow certain people to have access or if you wanted it to be a bit more complex then you could use some asp script and the authenticated user server variable. The server would need access to both domains, through a trust perhaps?
Thanks that's helped a lot :) :)
seems nice and simple..... :) shall give it a go and see where I get :D
