Blank Joomla

I've just setup a basic VM with Ubunutu Server on it to run Joomla.

I did a standard blank server and then enabled/installed all the LAMP roles and add-ons, then unzipped and copied over the Joomla directory to /var/www. However when I go to the site in a web browser, I get nothing. Just a blank screen. If I try to then go to the /installation directory I get a 401.

Any ideas what I've done wrong and how to fix it?

could be permissions. The www folder and sub folders should be owned by www-data user if not you made need to set it right.

chown www-data.www-data /var/www
and also maybe a chmod +rw for the tmp folders

Did sudo chown -R www-data.www-data /var/www
