    Joomla Category Organising in 1.7

Hi all, does anyone know of a good way of organising articles/categories, other than boring plain lists in Joomla 1.7. Ive seen extensions/plugins but didnt realy want to go down that route if it wasnt nessasary. The only other thing I thought of was making an article that links to these and emending it for different sections of the site/s, but that wouldnt be ideal either.

    Thanks in advance

When you say organising do you mean a site map?

no, i mean when users are navigating around the site. eg a user clicks on curriculum on the main menu, then in our current site this takes you to a page with a list of the different options, this is the page I would like to change in Joomla 1.7 to something more user friendly and dynamic.

Oh I see the menu item is a category list, I'm just playing with 1.7 now to upgrade our site I'm not planning on using the category list menu, what I have done is either create a blank link or a page as you said with icons(curriculum link in the top menu) on it to different pages with in that menu

Why don't you use the "blog" layout option instead of the category list for the menu item? You can always publish the sub-category list in a module position or use drop-out menus.

Then use the links Rush suggested.

And on a side note, J2.5 was released yesterday with J1.7 support stopping in 29 days time. Very similar to 1.7 but with lots of extra stuff.
