    Word Template to PHP

    Hi,
I have a word document on the intranet, what is a template. I want to be able to add merge data from the mySql database so when the user selects the name from the drop down box and selects go it will fill in the associated data onto the word document and show on the screen where they can save it, print it ...

Any pointers, please let me know,
    Stuart

You're not going to have much luck editing a word document in php. Your better option is to recreate the 'template' as simple HTML, and fill in the blanks using php that way.

Thanks for the reply. The issue I have with that is that the BG image is not showing up when printing

Background images never print from websites basically, as they are disabled in the print properties of most browsers. There is no way to force background images to print, but you could be clever and use layered DIVs instead - put an image in a DIV, then create a second DIV on top of it with the same dimensions with your text in.

That way, the image is treated as a content image rather than a background image. Why do you need a background image printing btw?
