Stop sniggering at the back!!! :P
Anyone out there use moodle & would be prepared for me to have a look around their site? I'm in the process of testing it for our school before putting a case to them upstairs & would like to see what it's truely capable of.
Cheers,
Rob.

We have a moodle site running here at Carr Hill however its only accessable internally at the moment. We're waiting for LancsNGL/CLEO to sort out some reverse proxying.

My versions are only internal at the moment too - just test sites. I intend putting up something live in the very near future. Doesn't help much tho'

Oh, for an internal install. Fujitsu won't let us have PHP or MySQL on our servers, or external web access so it's all got to be done on an external host (1and1.co.uk in this case).

Sounds like a raw real to me IMO but I'm sure Fujitsu must have their good sides too tho to be fair right?

Yes, they have their good sides. The problem is that it isn't our hardware. As it's a completely managed service, with the exception of the workstations & a couple of switches that we've bought, they own everything.
Thankfully, I get on with their field techs which has allowed me to get a copy of the standard Ghost image, and a couple of handy passwords which makes some jobs infinately easier.

Amazing! Sounds like too much control tho'! I can't understand them not letting you use a linux webserver - all the good web stuff is apache/php/mysql
You can install Apache on Windows - tho' not so good - it does work - on an XP PC - not a server - can you not do that??

Re: Do you Moodle?
We're are planning to Moodle! But as with Geoff, it can only be internal at the moment
Would be interested to know how others find it - do teachers get on with it? Or is it another one of these wasted efforts that just sits there doing nothing?
Andy.

Re: Do you Moodle?
I have a demo moodle you can use. It is running on our Industry Standard Unix Servers i.e so you access it via the web. If you work in a school, I can let you have free access to try out stuff for a couple of months. You can either delete it when it is finished or tell me and I will just delete and reinstall a new demo moodle. We host Moodles.. and lots of other great OS stuff.. yes iin my opinion the best stuff is PHP 5 and MYSQL.

Re: Do you Moodle?
Ok, this is the first time i've heard the word "moodle" so can anyone explain to me what a moodle is or where I can get info on it. (can't access the forums on the main moodle site while at work as forums r blocked, so I cant see feature list or anything like that). A screen shot would be nice too if anyone has one please ??
I've gethered so far that it's an online learning system of some sort and it's free, but thats about it.
Any comments/info please ???

it's a CMS geared towards teaching - the idea that coursework, resources, tests etc are all run on it.

I also have a test Moodle box if anyone wants to have a look around, prepare materials before exporting them onto a live system.
Feel free to PM me if you want access.
