We've just bought Macromedia Flash at the school, and I've bought a book that was supposed to teach me Flash. Basically it made flash seems little more than PowerPoint!
Does anyone know of a website that can teach me how to expand beyond that, I've had a great idea for a game for the school website, but I need to learn the "programming" aspect of flash.
And if there isn't a decent website, can anyone recommend a book?

I always find 'The Dummies' books really good for basic learning.
There are some streaming video courses free on http://kidzonline.org/ - you need to register to get at the stuff [recommended by my ICT CoOrdinary guy.]
I hate the dummies book, I much prefer Sams Learn in 24hrs, but I think that this might be a bit beyond their scope

There is a book called "Foundation Actionscript for Macromedia Flash Mx 2004" - You can amazon it up...
I used it on a piece of uni coursework just over a year ago and I found it very good. My friends and I used to refer to it as the "Spermy Book" because of the publisher's logo.... (You will see what I mean if you buy it).

normally when I am trying to learn things I try and find people who are good in that area and get them to suggest me books and more specifically the authoers of good books because for example I am learning server 2003 and this is going to be an obvious example but I have had a lot of people suggest mark minasai's books because he knows what he is talking about from what I understand ( whether you disagree or agree with me is a different story lol )
and he goes through things from start to finish in an orderly order and its understandable.
Personally those for dummy books and learn in 24 hour books get you started but they leave you hanging from the experience I have had.
Didn't catch this one before now, but the tutorials that come with Flash are pretty good primers to using the product. I used the "Flash Bible" to learn a lot of the other things.
Have fun!
