Wordpress + Xampp web hosting.
Hi all,
For the past 3 month's I've been designing a new website in Wordpress. I currently use Xampp to design the website locally, how would I go about hosting it on the live webserver? Would it be easier for me to setup mysql and php - How To Install PHP on IIS 6.0 » IIS Admin Blog & How To Install MySQL and PHP on IIS 6.0 » IIS Admin Blog
Or can I just carry on using xampp? If so how do I make it so the outside world can see?
Cheers

16th September 2010, 12:04 PM #2 Xampp isn't usaly suggested for outside world hosting due to some security concerns - XAMPP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you need to host it properly I'd suggest you look at getting a external web host (I use UKWSD) and run the site through them.

There's a patch which correct's all these security concerns isn't their? Have you ever tried using WAMPP?

16th September 2010, 12:09 PM #4 I would agree with jamesfed but using IIS you should be able to create a new website and point it to the folder your wordpress site is in. XAMPP should be able to do the rest.

Right so it's just a case of installing Xampp, starting the apache and sql service, importing my database & wordpress folder then do I just point my IIS to the wordpress htdocs folder?

I seem to remember there being a free tool MS have that allows you to install various plugins (such as PHP) on IIS 7 and indeed WordPress too!
I'll see if I can find it ..

I'm a web developer and I'm using Xampps from past few months.
I have heard about this new software called ampps and I'm planning to give a try.
Should I switch over from xampp?
