    New school website - Feedback wanted!

    Hi all. We've just had our new site go live.

    Please take a look if you get a chance (I know we're all very busy at the mo) and feel free to give any criticisms or suggestions!

    Personally I think it's pretty good, except for it being a bit dodgy in chrome...

    Cheers!

    Ok, well first thing to do is make the 'Home' read 'Plume School'

    The DNS has only recently been changed over. Perhaps it's still propagating as the previous website was directed to the serco learning platform. The CMS is custom made by the company that made the site.

    Looks good, might I suggest changing the html title of the frontpage from "Home" to the school name or something.

    Renders well in IE8, you could also look at adding a
    Code:
    <linkrel="alternate" title="School RSS" href=http://rss.school.org/RSS/RSS type="application/rss+xml">
    to make the feed more easily addable.

    Not that its really nessisary but you could also look at adding a favicon if you wanted.
    Code:
    <linkrel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">

    Looks nice ..

    but

    Main article font size is too small for my eyes - I couldn't read it with putting my glasses on (which I normally only need for IMEI numbers inside mobile phones

    I'd like to see the mneu items without dropdowns do "something" when I hover over them.

    Don't like the blue haze that comes over the pics when I hover (in FF don't know about other browsers) - seems that something should be happening but isnt.

    The links with the badge on the right look "squashed" - needs a gap between the solid blue line and the badge.

    And it'd be nice if the highlights had individual hyper links so you can find out more about an article (without clicking on the see all events and having to scan through them all again)

    regards

    Simon
