[Hosting] VPS Hosting

Can anyone recommend a good UK VPS host for some personal projects that I'd like to run?

Need to start off relatively small and with the aim of growing

Bodhost for price, just don't break it - takes ages to get fixed and they tried to charge me :'(

Been having a look at CSNewmedia and was wondering if anyone has any experience of VPS with them.

I know they are active on here so just wondering could sing some praises.

I use Virtual Server Web Hosting, Linux Virtual Hosting, Dedicated & Private Server Hosting - Switchlink for my hosting. Very reliable, and well priced.

Looks very well priced indeed, now to decide to go to the dreaded linux.

Would you recommend Plesk at all?

I've used plesk - its fine if you just want a basic sort of site, without any back end twiddling of your own (ie. changing packages in debian or custom compiling etc...).

Second that- depends what you want.

Anything non standard and Plesk is a liability rather than a asset.

Search for CSNM to get many views, but to summarise, just get on and buy Carl is brilliant, very helpful and supportive. Great service for cost etc nothing is too much trouble.

It isn't as simple as without though... As plesk has its own dependencies, there is an extra burden to ensure you don't mess it up.

If we're still talking about Debian/Ubuntu here, dpkg won't let you do this (unless you force it and accept all the very, very loud warnings that it emits about how much of a muppet you are trying to be).

Try Mythic-Beasts Mythic Beasts - UK-based shell hosting, co-location and Virtual Dedicated Servers They dont have a control panel as such but you have more control over your web hosting. And the support is excellent.

Webmin will do alot of what you want and wont require a license (thus a bit cheaper) - i know servelocity do that as standard but not sure if some of the named companies others do.
