Microsoft launch web platform with easy to install 'Apps'

Basically Windows has introduced point-and-click cloud computing for the masses and it’s doing it in a way that resembles the iPhone application directory but for web applications. Moodle, Wordpress etc are there.

What do this do - does it download and install stuff on my computer or give me access to free cloud applications?

    regards

Essentially one-click installation of web-based programs (e.g. Moodle - one click and fully installed!)

Just now this allows you to easily get software up and running on your own server. In January they plan to let you do it in the cloud via Microsoft Azure.

If you want something similar take a look at Flooha which can work with Amazon S3 or a hosted server.
