The head teacher would like a new school website. He has looked at web fronter and said it was rubbish. I created a website using the edugeek joomla template and he said he liked it but wanted to look at all the options available before making a decision.
Can anyone recommend a company that will come and design a website for us?
I would like the management of the website to be web based like joomla and it has to be relatively easy to use because most of the input and updating will be done by a member of the admin staff.
Also if you could let me know any websites that the company have already produced so we can see examples of their work.
we had School Website come in to my old work place. The head went with them, cost hime £2000 and they have a yearly lease for it to be hosted.

We used to use E4education before we brought everything in-house. They have a CMS system but it has to be hosted by them.
They were pretty good with their support.

We used http://www.e4education.co.uk
Did what we wanted, not a bad content management system. I think it's £100 a year for them to host it. Overall, it's pretty good!

Try MusgraveDesign. They did an extensive Joomla based site for our School (which if you look at our website you'll see isn't a standard run of the mill School!) - the great thing is they made it so it doesn't automatically scream out Joomla like so many other Joomla based websites around.
Our website is Chetham's School of Music

I think the term "value for money" needs to be used in its correct meaning in this case. You have created a website? He likes it? What more does he want?
Any additional features above and beyond that will surely be met in learning platforms etc?
I agree completely with Ric_ on this one. Baffling, totally baffling.
If you can find out what more he wants from your site i'm sure a few of us will be able to help. You can always give me a call if you'd like some advice, website details on the left. Not interested in selling you anything, I just feel it's a bit much of a muchness in this case :/

@TheFopp: Love the design of the site and prospectus etc there - very good.
I would rather just use the edugeek template. I know it would take me a bit of work to customise it but It does everything the school wants it to like cost almost nothing (We need more add more storage to host the site), it looks good and you can manage it via the web from anywhere.
I hope that the cost of bringing in a company will scare him off and we will go with my original plan anyway!!
I went through this very exercise last year, we went looking for the following
- Workflow signoff (content approval prior to going live)
- ability to devolve site editing (right down to students)
- newsletter signup
- CMS System
- Multiple site admins (customisable down to a single page)
- DDA Compliant
- Customised template
In the end we went with a company calle INCO based in Birmingham
Feel free to check out our sute at MGS
or Inco at Website design, Prospectus, Brochure, Logo design for Schools, Colleges and other Education Organisations.
Regards
Steve

I work in a independent school and also have my own web design company. Take a look at The Silcoates School Foundation (my own school) which is a site I designed, using Drupal. I could design a Joomla site for you for an extremely competitive price, much more efficiciently than most other commercial design companies. I'm happy to quote for you if you are interested.
