Hi all.
Can you help with my query. I have created the schools website (which is a bit of a work in progress) based around a "home" file name of index.htm but I now want to temporarily add another page that site visitors see first. I thought that if I created a new page called "default.htm" this would be loaded first. However, this does not seem to be the case. Is there anyway I can put a page up that appears before index.htm?
Many thanks,
rename your current index.htm or index.html to main.htm or main.html and then create a new index.htm or index.html page and you could do a timer on the newly created index.htm page or some other method to make it go to the main home page afterwards
Thats how I would do it
If you get in touch with whoever is the administrator for your web server, they can set which is the 'default' filename page - default.htm, index.htm, index.html or whatever else. They have to set this in IIS or Apache (depending what web server software they use).
Whether they will be willing to, however, is another matter!![]()

Have asked our ISP to change the prioroty of the web pages. Our site now loads default.html before index.htm.
Good tip - cheers,
Brahma
