MOSS Error
Hi I was hoping someone would be able to help.
Recently we had a power surge on out main site which shut down all our machines (nice)
Since then MOSS hasnt worked correctly with the main error being when a user who has contribute rights over a site signs in and clicks the Edit button they get
Error: Access Denied
Current User
You are currently signed in as: ericgen
or whomever is signed in
Camstudio capture of error
MOSS.swf

14th May 2009, 01:13 PM #2 I take it you've checked the permissions assigned to the Contributors role, even though I don't see how a powercut could change this.
Are any errors being logged elsewhere, and do administrators still have access?

On one of our boxes admin still has access the other box was sending NLB unicast traffic constantly, have looked at the MOSS logs and only errors i can see that may be related are
PermissionMask check failed (which doesnt sound too good)
General 8xfr Verbose PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x00000015, have 0x00000000

14th May 2009, 01:24 PM #4 I've managed to find this - "PermissionMask Check Failed" and Other Search Errors That Go Bump in the Dark - Eric Shupps - which refers to a similar error on the search crawler account. Seems like it might apply in your case as well.

Yeah Ive looked at that and do some google searches but nothing appears to match our errors

14th May 2009, 01:56 PM #6 The reason I chose that one was because it seems to make sense with your error. Its looking for a permission mask for the users trying to log in, and finding it blank. Have you tried backing up and recreating the site as suggested on that page?
