I'm planning on setting up a new website with some friends using Joomla and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good UK based host. We will also need a domain name and preferably email forwarding.
Also it would useful if the host supports Joomla so we don't have to install it onto the space ourselves.
The website is purely for charitable purposes so I will be paying wholly or partially for hosting so obviously I will be looking at basic package pricing. Upto a maximum of £25/year if possible, the "clook" website Watermoss mentioned has it's basic package at £50/year. If it is the case that this is the general pricing then I may stretch to that figure, or consider hosting my own server. But in the interim I would much rather go for a hosted solution.

Hi
This might be worth a look. I'm using it to host a site, as well as having a separate account for testing. I installed joomla on it with no problems.
BTW, love the avatar!

Linux Web Hosting - Plesk, Apache, PHP, MySQL :: CS New Media Web Hosting
I can help with the Joomla installation if you run into problems.

I use uk2.net for my business hosting and to be honest have had a very good experience with them. Hardly any downtime and customer support is pretty prompt. £75 a year including 3 domain names. Thumbs up from me

I use CSNewmedia for my own site and thoroughly recommend them, however I need a host for the school joomla-site we are planning that can offer maximum security (the register_globals issue etc)
Any recommendations?

27th February 2009, 08:49 AM #12 another recommendation for one.com as a very low cost way to dip toes into water.
I've setup 2 joomla websites with them, one for a local netball club and one for a small fitness business in the last 12 mnths - only costs £10 to setup.
FTP access can be slightly problematic at times as they have a 100 simultaneous users at a time limit but its at least as good as CLEO

Simon
