Hi all,
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who thinks there may be a need for a fully hosted Moodle VLE solution.
Hosted on my servers, full ftp access that type of thing.

That is the ideaIt is just a thought, but a ex lecturer I know is setting up an online learning enrvironment for some kids he teaches and needed the moodle host, so got me thinking there may be schools out there who don't want to muck about with hosting it themselves or just want to try it for a few months.
If schools want to try it out why not just install on own server and run internally. This would give them the chance to assess it. Latest instal is a doddle!!!

but then like us to get it on ourt own server is pain and sometimes for testing purposes just want to keep it seperate from main server and you may not have any spare servers to run it on.
also for edugeek members who dont have web hosting accounts and cant installit at school but want to play with it a hosting service could be useful...

In my opinion....
Advantages for local Moodle:
* Authenticate against an AD domain
* Loads quicker
* Not relying on external internet routes and server availability
* Not taking up external bandwidth
Advantages for remote Moodle:
* Good for testing if local resources aren't available
* Can access from outside of the school if the school's firewall or LEA prevents inbound requests to your local Moodle server.
Thank you
It is easy, but some schools dont have externally availabe server etc. Like I said just a thought at the moment

also we dont want to look to ad for its usename etc we want it to use local lea single sign on... which as we move on it means students username for local system will match there lea login..
