Wordpress blogs for all students
In September we launched a single virtual server to host blogs for all the students. The site had about 1500 blogs, but after about 40 students were using the site, it would fall over and apache would need restarting to kick it back in.
Has anyone had an experience in using wordpress as a blogging platform for students and if so, what kind of set up did you use?
Looking at separate virtual servers for different departments or multiple databases, w3cache, cdn, but dont know the best path to go down to have a quick and reliable site.

Expand on "it would fall over and apache would need restarting to kick it back in". What were you seeing in the apache logs?
Chances are with a bit of fiddling you can greatly improve the performance of what you've got.

The logs were full of redirect issues,
"Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace."
This might of been related to the blogs being created when we were using https instead of http, but we couldn't find a way to change everything pointing to https to point back to http.
Im thinking a fresh start might be best
