    Select rounded corners, odd background

I am using the Twitter Bootstrap css framework on an application and have an odd issue - when I specify a select, it comes with a strange background behind the curved outer edge.

You can see the curved edge and then a rectangular box.

What is causing this? Other input types display correctly, it is only the select which has this.

I think this is due to the browser's rendering engine. Different browsers will render things differently. HTML inputs like <select>,<input> don't seem to behave well when you a apply a background to them and are also using the border-radius property (rounded corners).

Thing is, this is in chrome, and the other inputs work fine.

If you haven't sorted the issue yet, post the source code for it, and I'll have a look. (I do commission work as a web developer)

Developer tools may help. Look at the CSS and where it comes from for the Select element, it may give you a clue as to what style is causing the issue. Great thing about the developer tools on Chrome and IE is you can change the styles on the fly, so a process of elimination can be used.
