Hi - we have had a server with our Moodle go down.. and our backup wasn't the greatest! We have never scripted a MySQL dump file...
Is it possible to restore the Moodle database by copying over the MySQL data folder - when we do this - the MySQL service fails to start. If we put in just the MySQL \ Data \ moodle folder - MySQL service starts - but we can't see the tables in PHPmyAdmin,
Any help appreciated!!
I think it should be. When you copied data the folder, did you adjust the ownership and permissions?
It "might" be possible to repair these but it depends what errors MySQL is throwing up on start up first.
Is the version of MySQL identical to the previous version?
What OS is the server running, is this is the same OS as before?
When it does start can you run "show databases;" from the MySQL CLI and does it show up the moodle database?
Got it to work in the end... my old server was 32bit and the new one was 64bit - so after I copied over 'my.ini' from the old server - the ini file was pointing to the wrong path for the MySQL service!
