Moodle Server Spec
We have Moodle running on a VM on quite a decent server. Anyhow, we get up to around 30 concurrent users and the server starts to hang.
This used to be fine but it's being used more and more so I think it's time to start looking at new hardware.
We're a school of around 650 users, and around 250 machines - Therefore 250 possible concurrent connections during the day (although doubtful).
What kind of spec should we be looking at for a new server for Moodle? I still want it to be sat as a VM on the new server.
In fact, I've just checked the memory on the server and it still has most of it free. It's assigned 1.5GB at the moment and most is still available.
I've found something about increasing MAX_CONCURRENT_CONNECTIONS for MySQL to see if this works.
Will post back soon
Ok, our Moodle seems fine once again but there are no users on at the minute - guess I gotta wait for it to get hammered again to test it.
Can I just ask though how many Moodle Admins have HAD to change this MySQL setting?
Have you looked at Performance - MoodleDocs and Performance - MoodleDocs#MySQL_performance
I could do with implemeting soem of the suggestions myself :)
Could you try some and let me know if it helps at all.
What OS are you using on the VM? Have you checked Log files etc?
