Active Directory Pictures as Moodle Pictures

    Hi,

I have taken a copy of our current moodle and got it working nice with our AD, i am all happy with that.

We use the facility in AD that will assign pictures to user accounts. Is there a way to get moodle to pickup this image and use this instead of users uplaoding there own.

    I hope that made sense.

    Thanks

There is a PHP library somewhere that allows for password resets and collection of data from AD. As it is just stored in another AD property as long as you know where in AD the pictures are stored and how (should be able to find out via ADSI Edit) messing about with that code should allow you to point as the right bit in AD to retrive the image.

This is how to push out those same pictures to Windows 7 user images which is quite interesting:
Using Pictures from Active Directory MSitPros Blog | MSitPros Blog

Here is the pathing stuff of where it probably is under Exchange:
Configuring and using display picture in Exchange Server 2010

Looks like an unencoded base64 filestream

A combo of this kind of script:
active directory - PHP LDAP Get user details of member which is a member of a group - Stack Overflow

to retrive the image property and this to decode and display it:
php5 - PHP view pciture from String - Stack Overflow

Should allow the retrival of it.

Thanks, i will have a look. I already had the first one in the to do list Exchange is all set

We use password control to reset student passwords, it also displays them in there, rather handy!

I will look at the others in more detail soon but they do look complicated.

    Thanks
