Frog upload Internet Explorer 9 Problem!!???
Hi
I'm a IT Technician in a school in Doncaster. we have had the Frog learning platform for the past year
I'm having a few issues with uploading a file within my files area.
I'm using windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit and have the latest adobe flash, but i believe the problem stems from using Internet Explorer 9
the problem I'm having is, when i go to "ME" area, then go to "My Folder" then click on "New then "Files" the window popup comes up, but when i click "Select File" the whole window locks up, including the one behind it
now I've gone over a few things, GPO's, obtaining the latest version of Flash player (both 32bit and 64bit!), and still no joy, I've even reformatted and not joined to the domain and tried then but no luck, I've tried Firefox and chrome and these work perfectly fine, but i don't want to have to use them
i did disable flash player in IE9 and it works fine which is wierd!!??
I've been in touch with my local LEA at the council about my problem and they are even scratching their heads at this one.
I have attached a picture of my problem
have any of you had this problem and how did you solve it!
please help me before i go mad lol :-)
Hope you can help
Regards

30th April 2012, 02:45 PM #3 tried that as well lol doesn't want to know. I'm very sure its a IE9 issue!! its a bag of pants really. it would be better if software developers started to introduce HTML5 coding, as i hate adobe flash player. so much can go wrong with it

30th April 2012, 02:50 PM #4 Have you tried the simple uploader? There should be a link somewhere on the upload screen - this usually works for us. This is a problem we have had recently and one I think Frog need to fix rather than providing workarounds.

30th April 2012, 02:52 PM #5 Yes, I like the way it makes IE crash and recover
but you can use the basic uploader...
basic upload.png
Which I don't see in your SS.
Frog not updated you yet?

30th April 2012, 02:56 PM #6 This fixed it for us:
Enable the Menu Bar
Select Tools
Select Compatibility View Settings
In the settings window untick Display intranet sites in Compatibly View
Click Close
If that works for you, then you can roll it out using the following User GPO:
Administrative Templates/Windows Componenents/Internet Explorer/Compatibility View/
Turn off Compatibility View - Enabled
Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for Local Intranet - Enabled

30th April 2012, 03:00 PM #7 Thanks chazzy2501 but i don't even have that option! so the answer to your question is no. i don't think they have updated us

30th April 2012, 03:11 PM #8 Strange, that fixed it for us, after weeks with the exact same problem. Might be worth trying the Internet Explorer Standard Mode setting (in the GPO), just in case that is the one that does it. One of those settings definitely did it for us. Apologies if you've already tried both settings.
Frog aren't great at fixing these things quickly, and the basic uploaded is a pain if you need to upload multiple files!

1st May 2012, 09:04 AM #10 Strange I had this once and it lasted for about 2 hours, since then I have not had a problem - Windows 7/IE9 here as well.
Have you tried giving Frog a call?
I might have done a full internet settings clean, I honestly can't remember if I fixed it or it just started to work. Have you tried it on another machine as your self or even as say an administrator - which has no GPO settings?
Although I will add they are currently working on FrogOS4 which is for all the new browsers and mobile devices etc.

1st May 2012, 09:26 AM #11 I given my support desk a call. i cant call Frog directly because our support is with our LEA at the council, then they get in touch with frog,
I've had this problem since last year and still no luck. their solution is compatibility settings, but I've tried this and no luck!!
I hope they hurry with the new version as this is ridiculous! if i was them i would work on a HTML5 version.

Here is the info regarding the future update, they are being tight lipped over it though.
As for your problem if its Frog then perhaps your server needs updating if its on the same version I am then I dont think its Frog side thats the problem. I not long rebuilt the PC I am on and nearly all our laptop/PCss are on Windows 7 IE9 and no issues so far. I dont think its a GPO setting either because I have pretty much none as an administrator and staff/students have tons.
Fully updated your PC? I am short on ideas minus trying to break mine.
Even more sorry that you have to go through your LEA to contact frog.... once some one here has a problem they are able to contact me and I can get right on the case.

I had much the same problems in September , Compatibility mode was the key for us, then the problems gradually got fixed in the frog version. My toolkit version is currently at 12.04.02. Do you have access to your frogserver toolkit to check you version (it's under the help option)? Also going through the frog community site and looking at the release notes in the support section, might give you a clue as to what was fixed when.

1st May 2012, 10:18 AM #15 No sadly i don't have access to that. i believe our LEA has this! Where can i find the frog community site? can you send me the link please. i would be most grateful thank you
