Content Providers
We are close to having our VLE installed and configured and while we would like to have our teachers creating their own content (ok you can stop laughing now!!) we would like to be able to give them a kick start by providing them with some already available content. Has anyone done this and can recommend some reliable and useful content providers?

Re: Content Providers
Probably the latter I think Russ with a view to giving them a start. The ideal solution would be to have a full content portfolio so that they could teach direct from it but I guess that would never happen would it!!
We don't mind having to pay for content, indeed Shirelands are offering their content at £4000 but not having seen it its a lot to fork out!!

shirelands content is for class server and SLK.
There are about 600 to 700 units. They are designed by teachers and then developers work on them.
They intend to develop about 200 a year. Also they will be re developing their content to be scorm 2004.
They also have primary languages, certificate in business language.
There is also a COPE asdan package. Instead of being a rain forest all the challenges are on line. The challenges are being cross referenced with Rafi.ki . This is a charity that has a web site where schools from around the world can join and work on projects. This will enable students to complete challenges with students from around the world.
You could look at Birchfield and see their prices. I think thats scorm compliant.

Re: Content Providers
Thanks new order I did negate to mention that our vle is in fact Microsoft Learning Gateway supplied by Teksys who implemented Shirelands platform. I have requested details from Birchfield so hopefully they will be able to provide some sample content.
Do you have a link for the COPE asdan content?

Our head wanted to trial the Birchfield content, it was £10,000 for the whole pack. I rang up for the trial, got the packs tried getting it working and it doesn't work with our VLE (Uniservity
).
Its just another thing to add to the Uniservity is crap list....
